Transfer News Today: Guardiola Gives United Hope Over Kroos

Kroos to United, Osvaldo to Juve, Taarabt to join Milan on loan and Sunderland seal Scocco deal, plus other rumours...

Transfer speculation I

Manchester United have been given hope that a deal could be struck with Bayern Munich for midfielder Toni Kroos.

Why it will happen: Asked about the 24-year-old Germany midfielder's potential move to Old Trafford, Bayern boss Guardiola said: "He is an important player but things can move fast in football. Here today, gone tomorrow."

Why it won’t happen: Kroos is a big player to let go of, particularly in January. Is Kroos just angling for a better deal?

Transfer speculation II

Juve will wrap up a deal for Southampton striker Osvaldo before Friday’s transfer deadline.

Why it will happen: Juve's general manager, Beppe Marotta, has confirmed his club's interest in Osvaldo, saying: "Osvaldo is an Italy international and there are a lot of clubs who like him, not only me. But before we can buy, we've got to sell."

Why it won’t happen: The deal is dependent on shifting Mirko Vucinic to Arsenal or Tottenham. Can they do it all before Friday?

Having a medical

QPR midfielder Adel Taarabt has flown to Italy to have a medical with AC Milan ahead of a loan move until the end of the season.

Why it will happen: Seedorf sees Taarabt as the flair player Milan need, with the coach aiming to make him the ‘new Kevin Prince Boateng’.

Why it won’t happen: Taarabt has failed to make it at any of the clubs he’s played for. Are Milan just a little too good for him?

Signed, sealed, delivered

Sunderland have completed the signing of Argentine striker Ignacio Scocco from Internacional on a two-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee. Sunderland have also recalled striker Conor Wickham from his loan at Sheffield Wednesday as manager Gus Poyet seeks to bolster his striking options.
