Nani back to Sporting, Rooney to Real, De Jong to Liverpool and Traore set for Everton, plus other rumours...
Sporting Lisbon are interested in re-signing Manchester United winger Nani.
Why it will happen: Nani has hardly played under new United boss David Moyes and will relish the chance to head home. He needs the game time in World Cup year.
Why it won’t happen: United have put a £10million price tag on the winger, which is putting off many potential suitors – Juve included.
Transfer speculation I
Madrid are aiming to capitalise on Wayne Rooney’s refusal to sign a new contract at Manchester United and will try to sign the striker for £25million. Probably not until the summer, though.
Why it will happen: Rooney is clearly angling for a move away from Old Trafford, and this would be a glittering fresh slate for the striker. Moyes would prefer to sell to Madrid than an English rival.
Why it won’t happen: Is Rooney suited to Spain? At 28, do he and his young family want the upheaval of emigrating abroad? Chelsea would seem a more logical choice.
Transfer speculation II
Liverpool are eyeing AC Milan enforcer Nigel De Jong as a replacement for the injured Lucas Leiva. They want to sign the Dutchman on loan.
Why it will happen: With all the creative players Brendan Rodgers has at Liverpool, they could do with some steel in their midfield. De Jong has proven himself in the Premier League with Manchester City.
Why it won’t happen: With fellow Dutchman Clarence Seedorf having just taken over at Milan, De Jong will fancy his chances of impressing the new boss.
6ft 8ins striker Lacina Traore has been granted a work permit ahead of his proposed loan move to Everton from Monaco.
