Transfer News Today: Louis van Gaal To Sign World Cup Star For Manchester United

Forum Chatter

Louis van Gaal wants to make Netherlands defender Stefan de Vrij his first signing since officially taking over as Manchester United boss.

Feyenoord’s De Vrij looks set to join Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera at Old Trafford for around £10m after Van Gaal registered his interest in a player who impressed for him in the Dutch side which reached the World Cup semi-finals this summer.

United are 5.00 to win the Premier League in Van Gaal’s first campaign in charge.

Tabloid Gossip

Mario Balotelli is edging closer to a return to English football with Arsenal.

The former Manchester City forward appears set to leave AC Milan this summer after once again growing tired of life in Serie A, with the Gunners long thought to be his preferred destination.

Balotelli is 3.50 to be an Arsenal player at the end of this transfer window.

In Talks

Liverpool’s bid to sign Loic Remy looks set to be finalised in the next couple of days after an £8.5m fee was agreed with Queens Park Rangers.

The offer triggered the release clause in the Frenchman’s contract, and the World Cup forward – who scored 14 goals whilst on loan at Newcastle last season – will now hold talks with the Reds before joining up with his new club on their pre-season tour of the United States.

The Reds are 2.05 to finish in the top four again in 2014/15.

Signed, Sealed, Delivered

Juventus have signed 21-year-old forward Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.

Morata was long linked with a switch to Arsenal, but makes a £15.8m switch to Turin to become new manager Massimiliano Allegri’s first signing since he took over from Antonio Conte last week.

Serie A champions Juve are 25.00 to win the Champions League this season.
