Transfer News Today: Spurs Move For France Keeper Lloris

.

Mere Forum Chatter:

Crazy rumours are suggesting Newcastle's ball-playing midfielder Yohan Cabaye is off to Barcelona for £8million. Firstly, he's worth three times that, something Toon boss Alan Pardew will be well aware of. Secondly, Barca are hardly lacking in the ball-playng midfielders department, and even if they were, new coach Tito Vilanova could turn to his youth and reserve sides, where approximately 867 clones of Xavi and Inesta are lie in waiting.  10% likely to happen.

Tabloid Speculation:

Juan Roman Riquelme is apparently being tracked by Chinese bigshots Shanghai Shenhua. Didier Drogba's new side are obviously not short of a few bob, but face stiff competition for the signature of Boca Juniors' captain, who dramatically announced his departure after the Argentine side's Copa Libertadores final defeat to Corinthians last week. 25% likely to happen.

Contact Made:

Busy Brendan Rodgers has been at it again today, this time approaching Borussia Dortmund as to the availablity of Poland captain Jakub Blaszczykowski. A star of Euro 2012, the 26-year-old midfielder has one year remaining on his current deal with the Bundesliga champions, and could be tempted by a move to the Premier League. 50% likely to happen.

Bid Tabled:

Spurs are closing in on French international goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. The 25-year-old was also being chased by rivals Arsenal, but is said to favour a move to White Hart Lane. However, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is yet to conclude the deal as his first bid fell short of Lyon's mark of 15.8million. Expect the deal to be smoothed over in the coming days. 60% likely to happen.

Medical and Terms:

Nottingham Forest defender Joel Lynch is today undertaking a medical at Championship rivals Huddersfield. 24-year-old Lynch, formerly of Brighton, can operate at centre half or left back, and finished second in Forest's player-of-the-year awards last season. He's the sixth out of contract star to opt for the City Ground exit door on a Bosman deal so far this summer. 90% likely to happen.

Signed, Sealed, Delivered

Veteran goalkeeper Paddy Kenny has signed for Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds, hooking up with boss Neil Warnock for a third time. The 34-year-old stopper played under Warnock at Sheffield United and QPR, but was left surplus to requirements at Loftus Road following the arrival of Rob Green. Kenny joins for an undisclosed fee, signing a three year deal at Elland Road. 100% happened!
