The Memphis Grizzlies sparkled early this season, then lost their shine. But there’s every sign that they’re ready to glisten again after a run of four straight victories, capped by Friday’s impressive overtime victory over San Antonio.
They’ve been really impressive on the road, winning ten out of 16 so far, and although back-to-back games are much more unpredictable, they’re in a great position to claim a seventh consecutive triumph away from home when they visit Dallas on Saturday.
Memphis are favoured by -2 on the handicap with the Mavericks winning just two of their last ten, promopting Dirk Nowitzki to make a rare public critique of his team’s management. Dallas are just 8-7 at home and they lost 92-82 when the sides met last month. Given how much better the Grizzlies have been playing since then, expect them to bear their claws.
The mis-match of the night comes in Indiana, where the in-form Pacers host a Bobcats team that only a mother could love. Indy have won nine consecutive at home and their defence of late has been supreme, allowing over 83 points just once in their last six games.
But are they good value at a massive -11.5 on the handicap with their grind-it-out style? They only have four wins by that margin all season but they are going up against the league’s worst defensive team. Best to have a look instead at staying under the total points line of 185.5, available at 1.91.
The LA Clippers look a sure thing to keep up their fine spell when they visit an Orlando team which has lost ten straight. But in that slump, they’ve only been blown out once so consider a punt on them on the handicap of +12.5.
Bet of the day: Take Memphis over Dallas on the handicap of -2 at 1.91.
