It’s been a great women’s event here in Melbourne, where we’ve seen some shocks and some great tennis throughout the tournament.
Na Li will take on Dominika Cibulkova in the final, and I think we are set for a fitting end to what I would consider to be one of the best Grand Slams ever.
The quickness of the courts has created a fast, aggressive and attacking game, which anyone who saw me play would tell you that I love!
Nobody wants to see the same winners over and over and over again, and so it is really good for tennis that we can see a tournament like this. The courts have played a big part in such an enjoyable tournament on both of the men’s and women’s sides, and I hope they stay like this in the future.
As for the women’s final itself, I can only see one winner on Saturday.
The 1.38 favourite Na Li has been unlucky in losing two of the last three finals here, and I think she will put that record straight and beat the 3.10 Cibulkova to add to her 2011 French Open and give her a second Grand Slam victory.
I think Li will wrap it up in two sets, which is available at a very good price of 1.95.
She won’t completely kill Cibulkova, who is a good young player in her first Grand Slam final. She deserves respect, but the Chinese star knows that given her age and the players who have gone out of this tournament, then this is her chance to shine on the big stage.
Li might be a little bit nervous because everybody is expecting her to win – she is the fourth seed and Cibulkova is the 20th, after all – but Li is the much better player here and she should know that.
I expect it to be an interesting battle, but ultimately experience will prove to be the deciding factor, and Li will be lifting a trophy that she came so close to winning in both 2011 and 2013.
