Goran Ivanisevic's Australian Open Tips: Nadal to out-fox Federer in 4-set Semi

It's been a memorable Australian Open this year with shocks aplenty, and the drama will continue when two of the greatest players in the history of tennis meet in the semi final tomorrow.

Roger Federer has looked back to something near his imperious best of late, and I rightly tipped him to beat Andy Murray in the quarter final.

After an indifferent patch of form, the Swiss maestro is seeing the ball well - and with his level of armoury he can normally dominate any opponent - but not his traditional nemesis...

Rafa Nadal has more career victories over Federer than any other player, and while this match up is normally an epic encounter, it is the Spaniard who has far the better head-to-head record at 22 wins to Roger's 10.

Often in these big matches, it is tactics that decide the outcome. It will be interesting to see if new coach Stefan Edberg's input will mean Federer approaches this match differently to how he normally faces up to Rafa. But I don't think that will change the result.

Nadal has Federer sussed out. He knows how to play against the Swiss and he knows how to exploit the tiny weaknesses he may have. It helps that he's lefty-handed, which Roger tends to struggle with, but Rafa is also very clever in where he plots his attacks.

This time two years ago the same men met at this stage here in Melbourne, and it was Nadal who won in four. I am predicting the same score this time, so back Nadal to win 3-1 in sets at odds of 3.95.

Federer won the first set that day, and given the momentum he'll take from his Murray victory, I think he will come fast out of the blocks and win the first set again here. As a bonus, back Roger to win the opening set at 1.93.

Meanwhile, Rafa is at 1.85 to win the tournament outright. Those odds aren't going to get any better and he is going to triumph this week, so back it now while there's still a bit of value.
