Women's Tennis Betting: Radwanska to take Bank of the West Classic title

Sunday night in Stanford features the championship match of this year’s Bank of the West Classic between Agnieszka Radwanska and Dominika Cibulkova.

Last night’s wager on Jamie Hampton was foiled by an error-ridden display from the American, who was unable to capitalise on twice on being a break ahead in the opener and was ultimately let down by her lack of consistency. It was also a much improved performance from number one seed Radwanska, who will be confident going into tonight’s final, which begins at around 10pm UK time.

Number three seed Cibulkova came out on top in a big-hitting battle with Sorana Cirstea last night. The Romanian went AWOL in the deciding set, which Domi took to love. But although her game does suit these conditions here at Stanford I’m not happy about this match-up for her.

Domi was a little flattered by the scoreline against Cirstea, who had a number of chances to take the opening set but failed to take any of her six break point opportunities. Cibulkova had just one but capitalised upon it.

Tonight will be the fifth time that Radwanska and Cibulkova have faced each other across the net and the latter has managed just the one set in that time. She was memorably handed a double bagel by the Pole in their most recent encounter, in Sydney on hard at the start of this year. Radwanska has actually won three of their last four sets by 6-0, which highlights the difficulty that Domi faces against this particular opponent.

Cibulkova walked away with the win last night despite hitting just eight winners compared to 20 unforced errors and unless she really zones in on the lines Aga will just keep making her play one ball too many and it’ll end up in the back fence or the tramlines.

To win Cibulkova must play her absolute best throughout and have a fair bit of luck. It’s unlikely that she’ll be able to do that, so for me the best option here is to back Radwanska -1.5 sets at 1.73.

Best bet: Back Radwanska -1.5 sets to beat Cibulkova at 1.73
