Ice Hockey Betting: World Championship Thursday Tips

USA 1.28 Draw 6.40 Belarus 7.50

After the high of their win over Canada, the USA were brought straight back down to earth on Monday by an impressive performance from Slovakia. The game did not go with the script at all, Slovakia were 3-1 up by the end of the first period and by the end of the game had taken way more shots.

Belarus looked edgy against Kazakhstan but ultimately secured a vital win which should secure their status in this division for another year. They gave a good account of themselves against Finland in their first game, if they can repeat that performance they could threaten the US, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

France 25.00 Draw 14.50 Finland 1.04

The longest odds of the tournament so far are for France as they go up against the only remaining unbeaten team in Group A, Finland.

The Finns are still on course for a top spot decider against Canada on Friday since it's all gone to plan for them so far, they found their attacking groove to put up five goals against a good Switzerland team and will certainly have too much for the French.

Czech Republic 1.20 Draw 5.50 Latvia 6.25

Sitting pretty in Group B right now are Latvia, who have a chance to turn what has been a good tournament for them so far into a great one against the favoured Czechs. They've overshadowed the Czech Republic results-wise up to this point, so can start this game with a belief they can get something out of it.

With wins against Norway and Denmark so far, the Czechs are still on course to make the quarter finals but will not have expected Latvia to challenge them for 3rd spot. That win over Norway came via a shootout, which by their standards isn't good enough, and their levels will need to be upped to ensure a victory here. This is definitely the game to watch today - the upset is definitely possible, and great value if you like an in-form outsider in a two-horse race at 6.25.
