Ice Hockey Betting: World Championships - Saturday Tips

Slovakia 1.78 Draw 4.45 Belarus 3.50

An excellent win over the USA has Slovakia sitting in the final quarter final spot in the Helsinki. Providing it goes to plan here, they could wrap up fourth place in the group with a win over Switzerland.

Belarus competed well with the big guns but ultimately came up short. They can relax and have a go here in the knowledge that it would take some remarkable results to see them relegated at this stage.

Expect a gritty contest between two nations that are defence-first minded, but Slovakia to come out on top.

Norway 2.45 Draw 4.40 Latvia 2.30

Plenty on the line here as these two compete for fourth in Group B. Latvia currently hold a two point advantage but Norway have the easier run-in, having already played each of the 'big 3' in the pool.

Latvia's win against Germany earlier in the week has put them in an advantageous position but Norway have perhaps shown more in their losses, making this an intriguing matchup. For me, the Latvians are a better defensive team and have a superior goalie in Edgars Masalskis, so the edge goes to them.

Germany 1.75 Draw 4.65 Denmark 3.50

Denmark are fighting for their lives having failed to pick up a win so far, and are getting desperate. This can give some teams an edge - as Kazakhstan proved against the USA – but even taking this game to overtime would not be enough for them to overhaul Italy.

It's still possible for Germany to overtake both of them and take their place in the next round; they would have to win here and also against Norway to have any sort of chance. It will require a step up from their performances up to now to do that, but if they can match the effort levels of the Danes they should have too much.
