MLB Betting: Royals v Twins and Tigers v Indians

Royals v Twins

The Kansas City Royals get a nice match up at home against the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday. Royals fans should be buoyed anytime Felipe Paulino gets the starting assignment lately.  Consider this: Paulino has started six games this season and has given up zero runs in four of those outings. He should be helped by the Twins offense, which is eleventh out of fourteen American League teams in runs scored – not to mention Minnesota’s top hitter, Joe Mauer, is less than 100 percent as he’s nursing a bruised thumb. The Royals lineup has actually been less productive than the Twins (Kansas City is ranked twelfth). But they are facing a subpar pitcher in Nick Blackburn. Blackburn is 1-4 with an 8.37 ERA and is currently in the Minnesota rotation only because of an injury to Carl Pavano. Look for a Royals victory at 1.57 as the Twins at 2.40 have too much against them in this one.

Tigers v Indians

Pitchers going in opposite directions should determine the outcome when the Cleveland Indians visit the Detroit Tigers. Cleveland’s Jeanmar Gomez is headed the wrong way. He’s had two consecutive bad starts, conceding five runs and ten hits in just five innings against the aforementioned below-average Kansas City lineup. In his appearance just before he gave up six runs on six hits in 5 2/3 innings against the Chicago White Sox. In contrast, Detroit’s Max Scherzer is on a roll. He’s struck out 30 batters and walked just three over his last 18 1/3 innings. He has also won each of his past three starts. Scherzer was 3-0 in four starts against the Indians last season as well. Go with momentum and take Detroit at 1.60 instead of the Indians at 2.35.
