After an opening day filled with shocks at EuroBasket, there’s immediate pressure on a number of teams to get off the mark in Slovenia. None more than France, the third-favourites for the championship at 7.00, who were simply terrible in their loss to Germany.
There’s always been a question mark about the mental strength of Les Bleus and their performance on Wednesday had even their players wondering afterwards if they have the calibre to contend.
They get Great Britain second time out with the British fresh from pulling out a shock over Israel. France are favoured by -20.5 on the handicap at 1.90, with Tony Parker at 1.85 to score 16.5 points or more. But with GB proving more durable than expected, put your money on the total points staying under 145.5 at 1.91.
Game of the Day: Lithuania v Macedonia
Both these teams came up short on Day 1 with the Macedonians left aggrieved over a controversial late call which went against them in their narrow loss to Montenegro.
Lithuania could have few complaints from their lacklustre display against Serbia. They’re capable of much better but they’ll need more from their front-court, with Linas Kleiza and Jonas Valenciunas needing to step up and take a bigger role.
Yet if Bo McCalebb gets over the line of 17.5 points at 1.85, Macedonia look great value at 4.00, or even on the handicap of +7.5 at 1.90.
Also look out for
Turkey need to bounce back from their horrible loss to Finland so take Omer Asik to score over 8 points at 1.85 against Italy.
Montenegro and Latvia, coming off victories, could grind things out to stay unbeaten so look at them to keep the total points below 152.5 at 1.90.
Finally, Ukraine are more than capable of defeating Israel – they’re great value at 3.15.
Bet of the Day: Take Macedonia to beat Lithuania at 4.00
