Israel have, along with Turkey, been the biggest disappointments at EuroBasket 2013 and their chances of making the second round rest entirely on victory over Belgium tonight. In truth, they’ve caught a break with how open Group A has been but they’ll need to raise their game considerably to stay alive.
The Israelis have had two major problems. They’ve conceded an average of 77 points per game, something which, when combined with an efficient Belgian offense, can push this game over the total points line of 137.5 at 1.91. And the low contribution of Omri Casspi has hindered their chances, with the Cleveland Cavaliers forward frustrated by his own play. He’s 1.85 to break out of his funk and score over 13 points, with Israel good value at 2.30 to get off the mark.
Game of the Day: Sweden v Turkey
The Turks have simply been awful, lacking passion and failing to live up to their billing. Always a Jekyll and Hyde team, their three defeats so far have left them eliminated and it would be no real shock if they folded.
Sweden, on the other hand, had few expectations but are buoyant after getting their first victory over Russia. They’re great value at 4.00 for the win or at +7.5 on the handicap, and with neither side putting up huge numbers, stay under the points line of 144.5.
Also look out for...
Finland are 2.00 to beat Russia, and on current form the Russians are going nowhere. Take Petteri Koponen to score over 11 points on the Player Specials. Latvia to stay within the handicap of +7.5 against Serbia at 1.90.
Take Israel at 2.30 to defeat Belgium
