The list of unbeaten teams at EuroBasket is already short after the opening two days with just seven left with a perfect record, three of which are in group D.
Most surprising on the list is unheralded Latvia, who followed up their opening win over Bosnia by stunning Montenegro 73-72 on Thursday, courtesy of Kristaps Janicenoks’ late game winner.
They’ll face a bigger test – as well as the added dash of Baltic rivalry – when they meet Lithuania on Friday. Although the Latvians are 4.00 underdogs, their offense, which has averaged 79.5 points so far, could pose problems. Although Lithuania picked up their first victory by stumbling past Macedonia, they’re shooting just 27% from three-point range and 47.3% inside. So have a look under the total points of 150.5, available at 1.90.
Game of the Day: Serbia v Macedonia
Any of the all-Balkan meetings in Group B brings potential drama but this one matters more than most. The Macedonians, semi-finalists two years ago, are winless after two narrow reverses to Montenegro and Lithuania. That’s despite averaging 73.5 points and the offensive punch of Bo McCalebb with 17.0 per game to date.
Serbia are unbeaten and they look capable of a deep run in this tournament. But Macedonia match up well with them, so it’s worth a punt on the outsiders on the match handicap of +8.5 at 1.85 – or for the win at a generous 4.25.
Also look out for
Great Britain are +7.5 against Belgium at 1.90 and Axel Hervelle is 1.85 to score over 10.5 points. Omri Casspi of Israel has struggled and with France’s range of athletic forwards, go under his points line of 13.5 at 1.85.
Best Bet: Take Macedonia on the handicap of +8.5 against Serbia at 1.85
