The second of Europe’s club competitions reaches its conclusion this weekend in the Hungarian city of Debrecen with the Final Four of the Eurochallenge.
And it’s Besiktas who start as 1.90 favourites to become only the second Turkish team ever to lift a continental title. They’ll take on the hosts, Szolnok Olaj, in Friday’s first semi-final with the Hungarians at 10.00 to go onto the lift the prize on Sunday night.
That’s a fair reflection on the gulf in class with Besiktas, who have already won the Turkish Cup this season, profiting from their mid-season investment on former NBA forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu. And with a terrific defensive unit in place, it’s worth a punt on the total score to stay under 162.5 points at 1.90.
The other semi-final is more evenly poised with Triumph Moscow facing French side Chalon. Both are priced at 4.00 for the Cup and 1.90 in this game. The Russians, despite their relative youth, have made a habit of prevailing in close games this season but Chalon’s form this week in reaching their domestic Cup final might give them the decisive momentum to win at 1.95 in regulation.
However a tie at the end of the fourth quarter – available at odds of 15 – is a tempting offer.
