Philadelphia – Washington
The Philadelphia 76ers stink. And although no-one’s officially calling it a tank job, there’s plenty of evidence that the Sixers are now primed to collapse for the remainder of the regular season.
It all fits with their rebuilding plan, with salary cap room in hand and draft picks stashed. A continued slump should allow then to bypass Milwaukee in the race to have the greatest lottery odds come the summer.
Which figures to make them the subject of heavy losses and big points scores from here on, with the Washington Wizards – who they host on Saturday – available at -15.5 on the match handicap at 2.90.
With the Wiz averaging 100.2 points per game, they’re perhaps not the most aggressive offensive crew but they have won five straight, despite the short-term absence through injury of Nene.
The 76ers have lost 12 in a row, giving up an average of 116 per night, and even being at home has been little help where they’ve dropped 11 consecutively. And with defence a foreign concept, have a punt on going over the total points line of 218.5, available at 2.45.
Sacramento – Minnesota
The Minnesota Timberwolves need to start making a run if they want to make the play-offs and timely help has arrived with Kevin Martin and Nik Pekovic set to return for Saturday’s trip to the Sacramento Kings.
The pair were averaging 37 points in unison but the T-Wolves have still been notching 105.7 per game, while picking up four wins from their last five.
There seems a strong possibility that the Kings will be next in line to fall apart and even with DeMarcus Cousins back in the line-up after suspension, take Minnesota on the handicap of -7.5 at 2.55.
Best bet: Take Washington over Philadelphia at -15.5 on the match handicap at 2.90
