Having produced one surprise after another this post-season, it will hardly be a shock if the Philadelphia 76ers pull out one more victory over the Boston Celtics and force a deciding Game 7 in the Eastern Conference semi-finals. In their unexpected play-off run, Doug Collins’ men have won all four games that followed a defeat.
The Celtics punished the Sixers’ lapses during the fourth quarter of their 101-85 win on Monday, however, suggesting that the momentum may have swung decisively in their favour. While no team has claimed consecutive victories so far in this series, Boston’s re-jigged line-up, now including Brandon Bass as a starter, looked fluid at both ends of the court. They also retain the experience of such pivotal games – something that Philly lack.
The Celtics are 2.18 underdogs to clinch a place in the Eastern finals at the first attempt, which looks like a tempting bet. They’ve also scored over 90 points in each of their prior wins so it’s worth going over the points total of 175.5 at 1.91.
With San Antonio and Oklahoma City resting up ahead of the start of the Western Conference Finals, it’s no surprise that their impressive form has seen their odds slashed to win the title. Miami are still favourites at 2.60 but the Spurs have drifted in to 2.75. The Thunder remain even better value at 3.75.
Bet of the Day: Go over 175.5 total points in Celtics v 76ers at 1.91.
