The NBA title favourites have survived to fight another day. So who’s worth a stake for the championship now?
Just five teams are left standing this season in the Association after Miami finally threw off the shackles of plucky Indiana to book their place in the Eastern Conference finals. They’ll meet the winner of tomorrow’s Game 7 between Boston and Philadelphia.
With no news on Chris Bosh’s return, the Heat's only viable option is letting LeBron James and Dwyane Wade run the show. But while that might be enough to get past the flawed Celtics or 76ers, it will be a whole different story if they advance to take on San Antonio or Oklahoma City in the NBA Finals next month.
OKC are 2.60 to win the Western Conference, with the Spurs at 1.50. But there’s great value on taking the Thunder at 3.75 to win the title.
It’s also play-off time around Europe, and in the French Pro A League, the quarter-finals are now under way. Gravelines-Dunkerque, who won the league title, are 2.25 favourites but only squeezed out Cholet 76-73 in the first leg of their last eight clash. There’s better value in Chalon at 2.75, given their knock-out pedigree this season – they won the Coupe de France and the Semaine des As, and reached the final of Eurochallenge. After Le Mans were upset by Nancy in the first game of their quarter-final series, they’re an intriguing 35.00 to recover and get through to the finals.
Bet of the Day: Get in early on the Thunder to win the NBA title at 3.75.
