The Los Angeles Clippers are fast becoming the NBA’s ultimate road warriors, which bodes well for their championships chances.
Despite an elongated tour of eight straight games away from home, LA are 6-1 over their last seven games and will now bid to round it off on a high when they visit the struggling Utah Jazz tonight.
It’s been a turnaround for the Clips from their poor start when they began 2-4 with all sorts of concerns bedevilling coach Doc Rivers and a team which was back by many, myself included, to land the title this term.
Now LA – still excellent value at 9.00 to come out on top – is hitting their stride with a 102-85 victory over the Houston Rockets on Friday illustrating their form.
Fatigue shouldn’t be an issue, even in the altitude of Salt Lake City, with Rivers’ men unbeaten so far on the second night of back-to-backs.
Blake Griffin has averaged 22.2 points and rising this season and there’s a real potency in his combo with DeAndre Jordan who is notching 12 rebounds per night over his last three outings, all of which have resulted in comfortable victories.
And while the Clippers are giving up 99.2 points per over the campaign to date, they’ve only conceded that number once on their travels – not coincidentally, during the lone loss to Memphis.
The Jazz, priced at 2.85 for the upset, should be easy pickings following four straight defeats in which they haven’t scored above 95. Hence it’s worth a punt on going under 194.5 total points at 2.43 and on LA to head home on a high.
Best bet: Take the Clippers on the handicap of -7.5 over the Jazz at 2.23.
