Will Miami turn up the Heat on the Celtics tonight in Game 2 of the NBA’s Eastern Conference Finals? The title favourites sure hope so. And after winning the series opener 93-79 on Monday, they’ll be confident of repeating the trick as the warning signs swirl around their rivals.
Miami’s defence gave Boston multiple problems with the starting five shooting a collective 37 per cent as Kevin Garnett and Rajon Rondo were left with insufficient support. Celtics coach Doc Rivers has affirmed that he won’t rest the ailing Ray Allen, despite the ankle pains that have knocked one of the league’s smoothest shooters out of his reliable rhythm. That could mean another tough night offensively for their team – making it a good bet to go under the total points forecast of 177.0 at 1.91.
The Heat weren’t exactly scoring in numbers either. LeBron James had 32 points. Dwyane Wade had 22. Collectively, Miami were ugly from long range. But they seem to now have accepted their flaws and found alternative ways to win.
Miami are 1.23 to win in regulation and although Boston are a generous 4.75, Allen’s woes will make it hard to bounce back, especially on the road. But expect Boston to make more defensive adjustments to try and compensate. Taking the handicap at 7.5 on the Celtics at 1.91 might pay off.
Elsewhere, there are a handful of women’s international friendlies. Belarus are 7.5 favourites on the handicap over Japan while Turkey are favoured by 6.5 over Montenegro. Have a look at doubling up on the Turks and Belarussians here.
Bet of the Day: Go under 177.0 total points in Celtics – Heat at 1.91.
