The Oklahoma City Thunder have reached the NBA Finals. But who will be joining them? We may find out tonight.
A win for the Boston Celtics would clinch the Eastern Conference Finals 4-2 and leave the Miami Heat as the season’s damp squibs. But despite home advantage, and their lead in this series, the C’s are the third favourites for the title at a massive 6.25 with Miami at 4.50 – and OKC at a short 1.42.
That’s might look like great value if the Heat progress but first they have to win two consecutive games, no easy feat despite the return of Chris Bosh who will likely be given a bigger role in Game 6.
Failure would surely see a re-evaluation of the Heat’s superstar project. But for proof that faith in a Big Three – or even Big Four – project can work, then Boston is the model. Kevin Garnett has been exemplary in the Celtics play-off run as others have battled injuries, averaging almost 20 points and 11 rebounds. Even with LeBron James notching almost 30 points a night, his side haven’t had the depth to hold back their rivals on all fronts.
But still, they’re favoured by 2.5 points to level matters at 1.91 and force a decisive Game 7. The Celtics are underdogs at 2.18 to wrap things up this evening and with so little to choose between these teams, that’s worth a punt.
There’s also some player performance offers. James is 1.85 to go over 31.0 points – a total that may be a necessity for Miami to survive.
As for the title, stick with Oklahoma. The way they picked San Antonio apart with four straight wins suggests neither of the Eastern challengers can quell the Thunder.
Bet of the Day: Take Boston to beat Miami at 2.20.
