One man does not make a team. Not when that team is as star-laden as the New York Knicks. But the loss of Iman Shumpert to an ACL injury could have a devastating impact on his team’s hopes of upsetting the odds and getting past the Miami Heat in the first round of the NBA play-offs.
Shumpert, a quality defender, will be out for around eight months after tearing his ligament and although the Knicks have hinted at a return in the coming days for Jeremy Lin, they will now need to rally in Monday night’s Game 2 after a 33-point loss on Saturday.
New York are priced at an almost incredulous 12.00 to bounce back with the Heat at 1.20. A side with Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire can never be completely written off. But with Miami in determined mood, go under the total points of 184 at 1.91.
Reigning champions Dallas are also generously priced at 5.50 to erase their deficit in Game 2 of their series with the Oklahoma City Thunder after a heart-breaking 99-98 defeat two days ago.
Kevin Durant hit the decisive late jumper with 1.5 seconds left to keep the Thunder’s homecourt advantage intact but no-one will discount the Mavericks collective will to hold onto their title for a little longer yet. They’ll have to match OKC offensively so going over 194.0 is a tempting bet. Better still, back them for an upset.
Elsewhere, the Indiana Pacers will go for a 2-0 lead against Orlando. With the Magic less than magical, go for the Pacers, even at 1.30.
Bet of the Day: Take Dallas at +6 at odds of 1.91
