After dropping 50 points on the Miami Heat in a Knicks victory on Tuesday night, Carmelo Anthony takes his talents to Atlanta on Wednesday.
New York are going after a tenth consecutive victory and a lack of rest shouldn’t bother his team who are 10-8 on the second night of back-to-backs.
Purely on statistics, this isn’t Anthony’s best individual season and March was his worst month of the current campaign. He’s had more kudos for being a better defender but, as with most evaluation in the NBA, merely being on a better team has driven his stock upwards.
Anthony will however, have a central role as the Knicks battle with Indiana for the number 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. Similarly, Atlanta are vying with Brooklyn to grab homecourt advantage in the first round of the play-offs.
The Hawks have come off successive wins over lowly Cleveland and Orlando and their size and athleticism inside will cause their visitors problems. But their perimeter is weak and with Anthony red-hot, take New York to maintain their surge.
After losing three straight, the internal inquests have gone external at the Los Angeles Clippers with even Blake Griffin questioning their collective effort.
It’s been a downward spiral of late but they’ll hope for a lift from a return home to LA to face the abysmal Phoenix Suns tonight. They need it, with Griffin and Chris Paul’s scoring numbers dropping through the floor.
The Suns, long out of contention, have lost six in a row but three have been by less than ten points. Which is why they’re worth a punt on the handicap at 1.91 to heap more worries on the Clippers.
