Philadelphia 76ers - Detroit Pistons
Is this the night when the Philadelphia 76ers set another unwanted record? If it's not bad enough they hold the record for the most losses during a regular season, (73, set in 1972-73), a defeat tonight to the Detroit Pistons will give them their 27th in a row and with it the longest losing streak in NBA history.
There's no need to feel any pity for the Sixers organisation, as General Manager Sam Hinkie's plan all along has been positioning this franchise for the stacked NBA draft this summer, and he traded away just about every decent player the Sixers had.
But you do kind of feel for the players that are currently in Philadelphia as none of them want to be associated with a record for futility. With the Sixers playing at home, their fans won't want to witness it being set either.
Add in the fact they are playing a poor Pistons team and the Sixers may not have a better chance this season to end this losing run, and that's why it's very tempting to take the 2.90 on offer for a Philadelphia win.
The Sixers may have an awful, decimated squad, but they have shown in recent defeats they are not giving up. Yet,it still might not be quite enough for a win, so perhaps consider the Sixers to win with a +5.5 handicap, priced at 1.90.
Houston Rockets - Los Angeles Clippers
While most eyes will be on Philadelphia's bid to avoid an unwanted record, the best game on the schedule will see the Houston Rockets battle the Los Angeles Clippers.
Fourth hosts third in a battle of two in-form teams and both look likely to seal home-court advantage in the first round of the play-offs. The Rockets are a very good team at home but the Clippers have won all three previous meetings this season and match up well with Houston.
The Rockets are on an offensive frenzy at the moment so go with over 108.5 points for the home team (Houston), available at 1.88, or for 1.78 you can get Houston to win, as they are due a victory against the Clippers.
Best bet: Home team (Houston Rockets) to score over 108.5 points, available at 1.88.
