The line-up for the NBA play-offs is now set. All that’s left is for the last remaining seedings to be finalised.
But for those whose position is settled, there’s the luxury of resting players over the closing 48 hours of the regular season. On Wednesday night, the Denver Nuggets go to Oklahoma City looking for the win that might clinch sixth place in the Western Conference. The Thunder, by contrast, have nothing at stake.
That means James Harden is likely to be held out following his Metta World Peace-delivered concussion. But you’d also expect that either Kevin Durant or Russell Westbrook, or even both, might be given the opportunity to recuperate for the post-season. OKC have a deep bench but it’s worth a punt on the Nuggets to strike gold on the handicap of +2.5 at 1.91.
The Los Angeles Clippers hopes of winning a divisional title for the first time in their ignominious history are over but they can still clinch homecourt advantage in the first round of the play-offs with victory over the New York Knicks.
New York are still chasing the free-falling Orlando Magic for sixth seed in the East and they’ve gained considerable traction with three wins out of four. The Clippers are +4.5 at 1.91 and in what should be a close encounter, it may be worth favouring them. Based on recent form, go over the points total of 197.
As the regular season nears its end, the Miami Heat have dropped out to 2.60 for this season’s title and the Chicago Bulls to 5.50. Both the giants of the East
look more potent than their challengers from the East. With a few injury concerns surrounding Dwayne Wade, take the odds on the Bulls.
Bet of the Day: Take Clippers over New York at 1.91.
