Ahead 2-0 in their Western Conference semi-finals series with the Lakers, the Oklahoma City Thunder travel to Los Angeles for Game 3 after dodging a bullet on Wednesday. A late slump from their rivals allowed the Thunder to steal a 77-75 victory despite putting up their lowest points tally of the season. Now the question is whether the Lakers will take heart from that near miss or suffer a cardiac arrest.
You have to be impressed with the growing maturity of OKC, who battled when the pressure was on: they trailed by 7 points with 2 minutes left. They will no longer be over-confident. The Thunder are underdogs by 2.5 points at 1.91 and that’s a generous handicap. Double up with a flutter on the total points staying under 191.5.
After stealing back homecourt advantage, Boston can turn the screw when they meet Philadelphia in Game 4 of their Western semi series. A 107-91 win put the Celtics 2-1 in front and it saw them ruthlessly expose the 76ers’ defensive weaknesses as Kevin Garnett dominated his young opponents.
The Sixers are favourites by 2 points at 1.91 and, as they showed in the first round against Chicago, they have staying power. But back the Celtics to increase their advantage in a game where the line of 174.0 total points seems unlikely to be exceeded.
Bet of the Day: Double up on wins on the handicap for Boston and Oklahoma City.
