NBA Betting: LeBron to burn bright against Charlotte

A month ago, the Los Angeles Clippers were fighting for the best record in the NBA. Now they’re just trying to match the form of the abysmal Washington Wizards. The Clips come to DC on Monday night with a woeful 4-6 record over their last ten games - the same as their hosts - and with the return date of Chris Paul still uncertain. Losing the All Star has thrown LA into a spin and they lacked their previous swagger in losses to Boston and Toronto over the last three days.

Washington have never had such lofty pretentions and after a mini-revival which coincided with John Wall’s belated season debut, it’s been back to normal with four straight losses. They’ve also lost eight times in a row against the Clips, including a 94-87 defeat in LA last month – a key reason why the Wizards are +3.0 on the handicap. But have a punt either on the total points staying under 188 at 1.91 or Blake Griffin to score over 21 points, available at 1.85.

Miami were far from convincing before pulling away from Toronto on Sunday but now they get an even less formidable foe when Charlotte come to South Beach. That win over the Raptors earned Miami coach Erik Spoelstra an All Star berth but he’s been grateful for the stellar form of LeBron James of late. The reigning MVP has led his team in scoring in their last four games and is available at 1.85 to score over 27 points against the Bobcats. Charlotte are an unlikely 11.50 to pull off a shock victory after 11 losses in their last 13. Miami are favoured by -13 on the handicap and they’re more than capable of a rout.

The New York Knicks will go for a third win this season over Detroit but the Pistons should have a fresh feel with Jose Calderon set for his debut following a trade from Toronto. Without him, the short-handed Pistons lost by a single point to the Lakers on Sunday. They’re underdogs by +10 on the handicap here and while Detroit are a competitive team, New York have won four straight, with all but one coming by ten points or more.

Bet of the day: Take LeBron James to score over 27 points against Charlotte
