The Indiana Pacers debut Version 1.1 of their NBA title challenge on Tuesday night as they host the struggling Los Angeles Lakers but will it prove the spark needed to turn up the heat on Miami?
Following a spot of pre-deadline wheeling and dealing, new arrivals Evan Turner and Lavoy Allen are expected in uniform with a remit to add some weight to the Pacers often-light bench unit.
Turner, who notched 17.4 points per night for Philadelphia, should bolster a second string that contributes just 25.8 on average (27th overall) – and a mere 15.1 in losses. But he will also need to buy into a defensive system that sees the bench give up a mere 28.3 per game.
It should see the Pacers, who still lead the Eastern Conference despite two losses out of four, raise their scoring mark above 98.8. And that could be highly problematic for the Lakers who are 3-12 over their last 15 games and conceding 105.4 over their last 10.
There may be some value in going with LA on the handicap at +11.5 at 2.16 but if Indiana’s redesign boots up as anticipated, go over 207.5 total points at 2.55.
Sacramento Kings 2.60, Houston Rockets 1.52 - BET and STREAM live on Unibet TV from 03.05 GMT
The Sacramento Kings sit bottom of the Western Conference but there still seems a little fight in the dog. And they’ll go for a three-game winning streak – and a season series – when the Houston Rockets come to Cow Town.
Rudy Gay has averaged 25.5 points in the Kings two wins over Houston so far, claimed by margins of 15 and 4. With Sacramento notching 107 points over its last two, and Houston racking up 106 over the year, expect a large total tally.
Best bet: Go over 207.5 total points at 2.55 in Indiana – Los Angeles
