Detroit Pistons vs Portland Trail Blazers (BET and STREAM LIVE on Unibet TV from 23.05 GMT)
With a Western Conference-best 20-4 record, the Portland Trail Blazers are forcing pundits and foes alike to ask the question: is their challenge for real?
They’ve now come in to 15.00 to win this season’s NBA title and 7.00 to claim the West and, with growing confidence, they look poised to sustain a challenge. And in their favour is that over the next month, they continue to have a very favourable schedule, outside of a rough post-Christmas week when they meet Miami, Oklahoma City and the LA Clippers inside six days.
The Blazers will go for a fourth straight victory on Sunday when they visit the Detroit Pistons, who were defeated 109-103 when the sides met in Oregon in mid-November. LaMarcus Aldridge, currently averaging a team-high 23.4 points, was held to 18 in that game with the Pistons’ bigs of Andre Drummond and Greg Monroe holding him in check better than most.
However it cuts both ways. Detroit are putting up a NBA-high 51.3 points in the paint but they’ll need to lean more on Brandon Jennings on the perimeter here. Such is Portland’s offensive momentum that it will push the total points over 207.5, available at 1.90 and the in-form visitors are -4.5 on the handicap.
Memphis Grizzlies vs Minnesota Timberwolves
Kevin Love’s 42 points on Friday for the Minnesota Timberwolves underlined his claims to be an All Star starter but the forward is getting a little extra help from Ricky Rubio of late with the Spaniard chipping in 17 points on average over his last three games. That could be a huge assist when Minnesota visit the ailing Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday where the absence of Marc Gasol is a defensive killer – with his side giving up at least 100 points in four of their last five.
Minnesota is -3.5 on the handicap but have a punt on going over the total points line of 197.5 at 1.90.
With more teams this season focusing on their pace, there’s extra value to be found in some of the Stats Bets available, especially on being first to 50 points. The Golden State Warriors, with so many weapons, should overpower the Phoenix Suns and they’re 1.90 to reach the half-century before their lowly opponents.
Best bet: Go over the total points of 207.5 in Detroit-Portland.
