Who’ll make most noise tonight – the Thunder or the Spurs?
After ending San Antonio’s winning spell at 20 games, Oklahoma City suddenly have a streak of their own to defend. And after levelling the NBA’s Western Conference Finals at 2-2 with consecutive victories on their homecourt, OKC head to Texas for Game 5 with momentum behind them.
The Thunder are still underdogs by 5 points on the handicap at 1.91 to edge in front for the first time. But there’s no doubt that the Spurs will need to make some adjustments to counter the offensive production shown by their rivals in Saturday’s 109-103 thriller.
Kevin Durant’s average of 29 points per game in this series may be predictable but Serge Ibaka went 11 for 11 in his 26-point cameo with some extra help from Kendrick Perkins and James Harden. Giving up points in the middle is unusual for the Spurs so expect them to shore up that gap this time around, perhaps with more time for DeJuan Blair on the floor. But on past evidence, it’s still worth taking a punt on going over the total points line of 202.5 for this evening.
In the final reckoning, Game 5 will prove pivotal. San Antonio are still 1.48 favourites to win this series with OKC 2.80 underdogs. And this is the time where the Spurs may profit from earning homecourt advantage over these last 3 games by stealing the top seed in the West from the Thunder over the last few weeks of the season.
Bet of the Day: Go over the total points line of 202.5 at 1.91 in Thunder – Spurs
