NBA Betting: The Wizards and Bobcats set for close encounter

Washington Wizards - Charlotte Bobcats

With both teams having secured a playoff spot, it's all about positioning when the Charlotte Bobcats head to the nation's capital for a meeting with the Washington Wizards.

These two teams still have something to play for and that's the sixth seed. The current occupiers are the Wizards, while the Bobcats are a game behind.

Why is it important? Well, the seventh seed will end up playing Indiana or Miami in the first round of the play-offs while the team in sixth will face Toronto or possibly Chicago.

Therefore it makes sense to want to finish the season strong and avoid the Pacers or Heat. Even with the Pacers' slump in form recently they would be unlikely to exit straight away, while Toronto would appeal to most teams as a first-round opponent.

Wizards' star John Wall described this game as their biggest of the season and he could be right as if Washington lose tonight, Charlotte will go ahead in the standings by virtue of holding the tie-breaker.

The x-factor this evening could be Nene, Washington's Brazilian forward who has missed six weeks with a ligament injury. With Nene in the line-up the Wizards are certainly a better team and they could really use him to deal with Al Jefferson down low.

However, his minutes will be restricted and just how effective can Nene be in his first game back?

Washington to win this one at 1.48 appears a safe bet, but this should be a close game and the Bobcats could sneak it, so instead go for Charlotte to win with +4.5 handicap, at 1.98.

Atlanta Hawks - Boston Celtics

Poor Atlanta. They had a perfect chance to stick a nail in the New York Knicks' coffin and they blew it. The Hawks look to get back on track with a second game of a home double-header when the Boston Celtics come to town.

Logic dictates an Atlanta win (1.30), but then logic was wrong last night against Detroit. The Celtics will probably give it a go this evening but likely sink without trace down the stretch.

For this one, take the combined total to be over 203.5 points, at 1.90.

Best Bet: Charlotte Bobcats to win with +4.5 handicap at 1.98.
