Oklahoma City Thunder 1.57 – San Antonio Spurs 2.43 (Spurs lead series 3-2)
It’s win or go home for the Thunder on Saturday as San Antonio travel to Oklahoma with just one more win required to reach their second straight NBA Finals and set up a reunion with the Miami Heat.
The Spurs, at least, know they’d have a second shot at advancing back on their own floor on Monday. For OKC, a season which has promised so much now hangs in the balance as they try to force a deciding Game 7.
The Western Conference Finals have been a curious series with every clash to this point providing a blowout victory for the hosts by an average of 20 points. And just when two easy wins at home for the Thunder seemed to have swung the pendulum their way, San Antonio delivered a 117-89 rout on Thursday with their bench, spectacularly, out-scoring their rivals 55-26.
No game so far has been closer than nine. If the pattern is maintained, Oklahoma City are great value on a match handicap of -8.5 at 2.95. And there’s every chance it will continue on this trend, with both head coaches making ongoing adjustments with line-up changes, rotational moves and different players stepping up.
In Games 3 and 4, OKC’s defence was intense, pushing the Spurs to shoot under 40% and forcing turnovers aplenty. Even if San Antonio have learnt their lesson, the brinkmanship involved could bring down the score beneath the line of 203.5, available at 2.23.
There is so little to choose between these two in so many ways that it’s hard not to see this series going the full distance. However I still believe the Spurs and Thunder can both beat Miami in the Finals. With the Heat still the title favourites, now is the time to pick a winner while the odds stack up.
Best bet: Take Oklahoma City on the handicap of -5.5 at 2.23
