Two sides currently firing are the Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators. One of their extended winning streaks must end tonight when they go head-to head.
Ottawa have shocked everybody by doing it in the face of a series of damaging injuries to key players. It's produced some unexpected heroes, not least giant 6"7 goalie Ben Bishop.
Yet if anyone can make those absentees tell for Ottawa, it'll be the Bruins. For my money they are the best team in the East at this stage and this will be a tight game.
The odds are interesting for this one with Boston very short at 1.80. The Senators have to be worth a go with the momentum they have at 2.70 including overtime.
Florida and Buffalo are both looking to build on their morale boosting surprise wins, as they try to avoid last place in the East. The Sabres victory over Tampa was also Ron Rolston's first as interim coach.
It's obvious that defensively both clubs have not been up to scratch and it looks even worse for Buffalo's defensemen when you see that Ryan Miller has actually played pretty well. He's just being asked to do far too much.
Florida do have talent amongst their forwards, yet they lack a consistent performer, with the big names going missing all too often. I like the Panthers chances here though at 2.40, having already defeated the Sabres this month.
Chicago are back in action attempting to extend what is now officially the best ever start to an NHL season. It's set up for a great game versus the St Louis Blues, a team that ran them close very early on in the season.
This is the first of four more bites at the cherry for the Blues, who will be tough to breakdown and will hope that their physicality up front is enough for them.
Perhaps the only facet of the game the Blackhawks haven't excelled in has been the power-play. In all other areas they rank as, or close to, the best in the league. So where is the weakness for the Blues to exploit?.
I was expecting odds in favour of Chicago and to say that St Louis were capable of beating them, but you have to take the Blackhawks here as they are out at 2.70.
Best Bet: Chicago Blackhawks to win at 2.70
