NHL Betting: Back Away Specialists Detroit On The Road Tonight

Nashville - Detroit

Tonight Detroit play their last game before Wednesday's highly anticipated Winter Classic in Nashville, after three wins in the last four has turned around their previously scattered preparations for the better.

The Predators also have something to build on having snapped a five game losing streak versus LA on Saturday, the manner of the victory even more invigorating as Mike Fisher netted twice in the final four minutes. Marek Mazanec excelled in net that night much as he did during a 2-0 success over the same Red Wings last month, it's been said before but Nashville have been great with something to protect and not so much at rallying from a deficit as the worst team in the league when conceding first.

Detroit needed the offensive boost of Captain Henrik Zetterberg's scoring return at the weekend not only for his scoring but also at center is where they've been hit hardest by injuries, similarly Darren Helm and also goalie Jimmy Howard are in line to make comebacks. Any problems the Red Wings have experienced haven't impacted too much on them remaining the best road side in the NHL and they seem to be getting into the groove again so jump on Detroit here.

Vancouver - Philadelphia

A spike in fortunes for Philadelphia has seen them take 11 points from the last 14 but a difficult trip to in form Vancouver may well end up grounding the Flyers.

They've been impressive throughout December but a streak of six at home for Vancouver is the chief factor in that outlook, a quick flight back from Calgary last night is unlikely to have taken too much out of them.

The Canucks last Rogers Arena win did come at the cost of a groin injury to Roberto Luongo, backup Eddie Lack is an Olympic candidate in his own right and has won on all but one of his starts this season so John Tortorella should have few concerns especially as Luongo's absence seems set to be relatively short anyway.

This will still be a big test for Lack though as the Flyers have scored 26 goals over that seven game stretch, Claude Giroux is at the heart of it with 14 points of his own during that same spell. It's not just Giroux though clearly but he is the leader of what is actually a very young forward group with a few exceptions, I called Jake Voracek out a few weeks back and he's turned his season around completely.

Out on the road Philly aren't exactly convincing yet however as last time out against Edmonton isn't a great measuring stick, I'd stay safe and take the Canucks to power through at 2.05.

Best Bet: Detroit Red Wings to win at 2.60.
