Alexander Steen and Sidney Crosby have both dominated in scoring through the first month of the season and they go head to head in St Louis tonight as the Blues host the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Either would be solid bets to net considering they are seemingly impossible to keep off the score sheet. For the game itself I think the Pens will struggle to take anything away with them tonight.
Both have been very strong at each end of the ice. Only once have St Louis allowed three goals at Scottrade Center and that resilience isn't something that Pittsburgh have managed to replicate consistently, just as we saw on Wednesday when the NY Rangers put up five on Marc-Andre Fleury. For that reason, back the Blues at 2.35. Against high profile opposition it's a great chance to get a good price on them at home.
Just heating up in the East are the Washington Capitals putting together four straight wins and aiming to make it five on the road in Arizona versus the Phoenix Coyotes.
Adam Oates' men have been the best special teams club in the NHL. Having the most proficient penalty kill and powerplay percentages is a big factor towards them shooting through the rankings of late.
Alex Ovechkin's presence alone is enough on the man advantage sometimes. Positioned around the left face-off circle he demands a defender to mark him and leaves the rest operating what is in effect a four-on-three situation.
Phoenix will ignore the threat at their own peril, as the Russian still has two more PP goals than any other player, plus the fact they aren't that strong shorthanded anyway. Washington are riding high at the moment and have a great chance to hand the Coyotes only a second home loss at 2.80.
Best Bet: St Louis Blues to win at 2.35
