NHL Betting: Capitals will blow away the Hurricanes

Only one point separates them from tonight's visitors to Madison Square Garden, the Winnipeg Jets, yet the Rangers are 10.00 to lift the Stanley Cup compared to the Jets at 75.00.

Offense is the glaring issue, with a static power-play unit not providing any relief from that, Winnipeg's league-worst penalty kill might be their salvation. Although the Jets work when short-handed must improve, they are undoubtedly still in the running. Bet on the safe option of a New York win here at 1.90.

South East rivals Washington and Carolina contest the first of five games today with the division wide open. Even when rooted at the bottom, the Capitals are only six points off the Hurricanes, who currently lead the division.

Both teams come into this on the back of wins. Alexander Semin returns to Washington after departing over the summer and joining Carolina. The Russian has settled in well with his new team and is forming a nice partnership with Eric Staal.

Surprisingly for a leading team, the 'Canes haven't won any intra-division match yet. Back that to continue with the Washington win at 2.25.

All three divisions in the West seem to be following the same pattern, with one club with room out in front and the rest scrapping for position. Minnesota and Calgary are part of that fight in the North West.

Calgary are on the up after a pair of big victories, that included one over the Wild just three days ago. Go with them to take this at odds of 2.35 on a Flames win including overtime.

Best Bet: Washington Capitals to win at 2.25
