The Dallas Stars and Anaheim Ducks hog all the limelight tonight, as theirs is the only game of the day. It'll be the first of five meetings between them this season so this is a chance to establish a psychological advantage for the contests ahead. You'd have to give any pregame edge to Dallas, who took home five of the six games they played last year.
A pair of European NHL legends - Jaromir Jagr and Teemu Selanne - will be wearing opposing jerseys, with the Stars and Ducks respectively. Even in their 40s the class remains; look out for them to be potential match winners, although with age they have had to adapt to being playmakers rather than the pure goalscorers of old. Selanne is 3.00 to score at least goal, but if you fancy backing one of them I think Jagr is the better option at 3.50.
Victor Fasth is giving the Ducks a real goalie headache. They've won every game the Swede has started and he's generally been outplaying usual starter Jonas Hiller. As long as that remains the case Bruce Boudreau will be under pressure to keep Fasth between the pipes, and I'm not sure he can afford to leave him out tonight. Dallas don't have that same controversy: Kari Lehtonen has been extremely reliable and has the ability to stunt any offense. These guys will be aiming to keep the total goals under 5.5 tonight at 1.58.
Anaheim will start as slight favourites at 2.45 to Dallas' 2.55. As in their last few outings it looks a tough call to bet against the Ducks right now, so I'll tip them to emerge with the victory but only including overtime at 1.87.
Best bet: Anaheim Ducks including overtime/shootout at 1.87
