NHL Betting: Ducks To Go Ten Straight With Phoenix Scalp

St Louis Blues 2.15, Draw 3.85, Chicago Blackhawks 2.90

Fresh from a 7-2 thrashing of Colorado last night, the Chicago Blackhawks move on to another huge game in St Louis with it looking increasingly likely that these two will be the only ones left scrapping for the Central Division crown.

A birthday hat-trick rounded off a special night for Patrick Sharp as his link up with Jonathan Toews is as profitable as ever, by some margin these are the highest scoring teams in the league. It's not shone through when they've duelled earlier this year though, on both occasions the Blues emerged on the right side of a 3-2 scoreline but that was back in the early weeks.

Ken Hitchcock bemoaned a third period capitulation against Calgary that meant his side went into the short break on the back of a defeat. Leading scorer Alex Steen is a game time decision though seems unlikely to feature here. Previously it had been a big call to go against St Louis at home, however this month the big guns have been taking the points from them. Chicago look the more complete team right now so take them at 2.85.

Anaheim Ducks 1.90, Draw 3.95, Phoenix Coyotes 3.45.

Only the Phoenix Coyotes stand in front of Anaheim becoming the first side to win ten straight this season and it's a divisional matchup the Ducks have already banked three victories in since October.

It's perhaps surprising that they've conceded at least two goals in all but one of the nine A solid effort earned the 'Yotes a point in San Jose last night. Although this matchup could hardly come at a worse time when they're heavy legged and have only one win in six.

They'll be preparing for a heavy even strength battle as at home no club has spent less time shorthanded than tonight's opponents, one of many reasons for Anaheim's near impenetrable home record and a +30 goal difference in 15 outings at Honda Center.

There's plenty of talent amongst Phoenix's defensive group but they aren't the biggest and that's a major reason that Anaheim often make them suffer, use of their size on the forecheck is key to Bruce Boudreau's strategy of establishing themselves in the offensive zone. Another handicap win for the Ducks seems likely here to fit the pattern and would be even without the imposing run they are currently on.

Best bet: Anaheim Ducks to overcome -1.5 handicap at 2.55.
