What to make of the Florida Panthers right now? Routed 7-2 by Tampa on Thursday they rallied to knock off Pittsburgh 6-3 the following day to go with some other hot and cold results.
I guess we can count on them to be inconsistent. They host the LA Kings who haven't been totally convincing either but have some valuable momentum.
The Pacific Division is shaping up to be the league's toughest with all but one of its teams possessing a winning record. Getting the first goal has been make or break for the Panthers and they'll need that boost to their belief again as the Kings love to ramp up the forecheck when they get in front.
Judge Florida off their only home game being a resounding success and back the Panthers at 3.05. It may be smarter to take on over 5.5 goals in this one though, as both of these clubs have been involved in some high scoring affairs.
Winnipeg's positive start has evaporated after three straight losses this week as their offence quietened considerably. Hosting New Jersey may be just the tonic.
The Devils are yet to claim their first success and must be lamenting missed opportunities having lost three of their five games in either overtime or a shootout. Damien Brunner was signed extremely late in the offseason but a reduced training camp for him personally hasn't stopped the Swiss settling in right away with five points.
Old heads Jaromir Jagr and Patrik Elias have also been chipping in scoring wise. Although they're not the most explosive team, there's plenty of experience to keep them composed in this winless situation.
It's a worrying trend however to be blowing leads in four our of their five matches and if Winnipeg raise the intensity a little again they can pile it on further. Get on the Jets in this one at 2.10.
