Things couldn't be going better for New Jersey as they head to Philadelphia armed with a 3-1 lead and the knowledge that the Flyers will have to do without key forward Claude Giroux in tonight's Game 5. On Sunday he stepped in to the path of Dainius Zubrus with his shoulder raised, catching him in the head right at the end of the second period. The league has deemed it worthy of a one game suspension which is probably about right, but it is a huge blow for Philly to lose their best player for this do or die game.
Giroux had answered the call offensively in the first period with a goal and an assist to put his team up by two, but the Devils came back quickly to go in to the first intermission level. From then on they exerted their dominance and ended up winning 4-2 with almost double the shots that the Flyers had mustered.
New Jersey are rolling on the back of three straight wins and will look to polish the series off as soon as possible to get rested for the next round. Finishing it at the Wells Fargo Center will not be a simple but the pressure is off and they can take some risks to try and get the win. At 3.10 they could be worth backing but Philadelphia are unlikely to lie down in front of their own fans after such a poor performance and their price of 2.15 is probably the better option.
After 4 goals in the first period last time out, 2.05 for more than 1.5 goals in the first twenty minutes of tonight's game is good value too.
Best Bet: More than 1.5 goals in the first period at 2.05.
