NHL Betting: Home comforts to help the Kings rule against the Blackhawks

Los Angeles Kings - Chicago Blackhawks

Who'd want to call this one heading West out to Staples Center in Los Angeles for Game 3? The Blackhawks still have the odds advantage at 1.75 but they should be wary on the back of spectacularly blowing Wednesday's second contest and losing their home ice advantage for the rest of the series.

Leading 2-0 just over 38 minutes in, it was Chicago's to lose before Justin Williams got the bounce in front of the net to kickstart six unanswered goals for the Kings that left their opponents shell-shocked.

Tallies two and three that first tied the game then gave LA the lead came from powerplays, and while Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville lamented those costly penalties he still seemed surprised his team would give up such a dramatic turnaround.

'The Windy City' should have been warned by the number of shots they afforded to Jeff Carter in Game 1 even though they escaped unscathed on that occasion. A hat-trick on Wednesday that rocked United Center duly punished them and nobody has more playoff goals since 2012 than Carter.

His line alongside youngsters Tyler Toffoli and Tanner Pearson has been LA's most effective so far despite Darryl Sutter very specifically picking his moments to utilise it.

Going off similar assumptions, Chicago's Patrick Sharp and Marian Hossa should have more goals than they have managed so far and as a result their odds to score tonight of 3.75 and 4.00 have slipped in such a way they should be looked at.

It's easy to forget the huge difference between the two teams in goals for during the regular season, and it's not just those two stars that need to help the Blackhawks press extra offensive capacity home.

It could be argued that the side who played the less complete 60 minutes (even though both are equally guilty of not capitalising on their superiority) has emerged victorious in each clash so far.

If LA can replicate their dominance in the faceoff circle I'd say they have the edge and factoring in the added bonus of a supportive crowd this time I believe they are the better option here.
