Ottawa Senators at Minnesota Wild
Look out for Ottawa on the charge, five wins in a row has put them back into the frame especially if they can take full points from their two games in hand.
Sweeping the three Californian teams on the road last week was certainly impressive and should give them belief they can secure another very tough away scalp tonight.
All five victories have been backstopped by Andrew Hammond who is really taking advantage of his first proper crack in the NHL at the age of 27. It's a similar story with their leading goalscorer Mike Hoffman and the winger bagged another two goals against San Jose to take his season tally to 23.
Minnesota are very capable of putting the brakes on the in-form Sens and bolstered their already strong defence when they picked up veteran Jordan Leopold yesterday.
No club has fewer hits than the Wild and that's testament to how well their blueline plays the space rather than the man. The challenge for Ottawa is establishing the offensive zone and from there it's up to them to use their size advantage on some of Minnesota's smaller defenceman.
Any Senators victory is likely to need a huge contribution from Hammond but it's worth taking the chance out at 3.80.
New York Islanders at Dallas Stars
Anything short of a goal fest between these two high all-action teams will be a disappointment and they even set the bar themselves with a 7-5 thriller earlier in the season.
The Islanders didn't make any major moves on deadline day but did sure up some depth issues they had, adding Michal Neuvirth as a backup for Jaroslav Halak was an astute move.
They also have the worst goals against average of any club currently set to make the postseason, most of that comes from their abysmal 30th ranked penalty kill. Meanwhile Dallas's losing streak keeps extending, up to six now after dropping to Anaheim on Sunday and another failure from their defence.
It's fair to say they were short on puck luck that night but at this time of the season ultimately it's results that matter. New York have become a bit hit and miss on the road lately and I think the value is banking on Dallas making good on that improved effort at 2.90. I'm more confident on both offences having a productive night though so take a look at them breaching the 6.5 total goal line.
Best Bet: Over 6.5 total goals in NY Islanders vs Dallas at around 2.55
