NHL Betting: Islanders to blow away Hurricanes

It’s a monumental match first off tonight, as the Winnipeg Jets and Washington Capitals face off for the fifth time this season. A win for the Capitals gives them the Southeast Division, a win for the Jets and we are going right down to the final day.

Winnipeg were certainly fired up last night and were more conclusive against Buffalo than the 2-1 scoreline suggests. Washington have been tremendous since mid-March and their powerplay continues to wreak havoc. They have 7 PP goals in the last five games.

All four meetings in 2013 have gone to the away side and by a clear margin too. That makes Winnipeg very tempting at 5.10 with a -1.5 handicap. With so much on the line though it's going to be much tighter, so take the prudent option with the Capitals at 1.95.

The New York Islanders may be spending the rest of the season out on the road but it looks like their fans haven't seen the last of them this year as they close in on a first play-off appearance since 2007.

They are without a defeat in regulation this month and the Carolina Hurricanes will be the latest team to challenge that. Considering the 'Canes form at PNC Arena, it looks unlikely, with just one win in ten for their supporters to cheer.

Go with the Islanders at 2.25. They actually possess the second best road record in the East.

Boston are still competing with Montreal for the North East. Winning that battle is the difference between a second or fourth play-off seeding.

Neither has shone lately but the Bruins have the chance to push on against the Philadelphia Flyers, a surprise absence from this year's post-season.

No doubt an inquest is needed into why this was such a poor season for the Flyers, with the amount of money spent and talent in their line-up ,they really shouldn't be in this position.

Their lack of depth on defence is an obvious weakness, while having Chris Pronger out for the whole season robbed them of a leader as well as a great player. Back Boston here at 2.25.
