NHL Betting: Lightning Ready To Strike At Florida

Florida Panthers v Tampa Bay Lightning

It's the second Battle of Florida this season as the Sunrise-based Panthers seek revenge over the Tampa Bay Lightning for a 7-2 thrashing on October 10th.

Steven Stamkos fired home a hat-trick in that encounter, and seeing as No. 90 has only gone without a point once since, I don't fancy the Panthers' chances of containing him.

It's quietly been a very good start for the Bolts, who sit fourth in the East and have only lost to the two conference finalists of last season: Boston and Pittsburgh.

Florida's run of results makes pretty baffling reading, the only time their offence has really clicked was when they somehow managed to put six past one of the strongest teams in the conference, Pittsburgh.

It's disheartening to see a franchise in a similar position in terms of ambitions coming into the season like Calgary being so much more positive. I've taken chances before on Florida and their good performances have just been too rare to warrant that belief in them, so take the Lightning to sweep past them tonight at nice odds of 2.50.

Colorado Avalanche v Winnipeg Jets

Colorado are the only club with just one loss on their record so far this term, and the Avalanche have the opportunity to return to the top of the NHL if they overcome the Winnipeg Jets tonight.

A shootout victory in Dallas last night boosted the Jets but they've failed to put together back to back wins since their opening two games of the season.

While the fact that everybody throughout their lineup is contributing offensively has been key for the Avalanche, it's Matt Duchene who's been the real stand out producer - he's utilising his blistering speed to devastating effect and Duchene's eight goals are five more than anyone else on the roster.

It's their league best penalty kill that best illustrates why the Avs are at the top of the standings, at times they have been under significant pressure but they've dug in and been prepared to work extremely hard to defend their leads.

Four of Winnipeg's last five outings have gone past regulation and with there being little value on a simple two points for Colorado, I like the chances of a tie at enticing odds of 4.10.

Best Bet: Tampa Bay Lightning to win at 2.50.
