NHL Betting: Momentum With Philadelphia Ahead Of Derby Game

Ottawa Senators 2.08 Draw 3.90 Toronto Maple Leafs 3.05

Ontario's clubs collide for the 100th time in NHL history.

No club in the East can match the Senators' current four game winning streak and they're 2-0 at Canadian Tire Centre having knocked off Colorado and then getting a fortunate victory over Columbus there this last week.

The Leafs have been typically unpredictable so far but are on the high of beating the New York Islanders on the road last night, they've featured in some high scoring games and considering the offensive potential on show I like the chances of over 5.5 total goals at 1.77.

Looking particularly potent at the moment is Toronto's top line of Phil Kessel, Tyler Bozak and James van Riemsdyk though many opponents might target their lack of defensive skill as a way to get on top within the game.

Ottawa have the same problem in the fact they've been outshot in each of the victories on this streak, an open game suits them more when Erik Karlsson can carry the puck up ice. Back the Senators to get through an entertaining contest at 2.08.

Pittsburgh Penguins 1.72 Draw 4.10 Philadelphia Flyers 4.20

No love lost between the NHL's two teams from Pennsylvania and an important rivalry game could be the perfect tonic for Philadelphia who are suffering a slow start to the season.

In fact they won four of five clashes with the Penguins  last year and the intensity of the clashes often makes form irrelevant.

Scooping their first win of the season at the weekend was vital to their mood but was followed up last night by an understandable 4-0 defeat in Chicago.

As seems the norm these days the situation is much more comfortable in Pittsburgh, a 3-1 record was most recently topped up by a victory over the Islanders on Saturday and their offence looks as potent as ever.

If the temperature does rise Philly would do well to try to stay out of the box when Pittsburgh's powerplay efficiency; though admittedly from a small sample size, sits at 47.1%.

Sidney Crosby has already racked up nine points in four games and new linemates Patric Hornqvist and Chris Kunitz are right there alongside him in the upper reaches of the scoring charts.

Even though they are out of form with odds of a Flyers win way out at 4.20 it's worth taking the risk due to their form in this fixture.

Best Bet: Philadelphia Flyers to win at 4.20
