New Jersey completed a third win of the season over Philadelphia on Wednesday and will hope to repeat the trick in night two of the double header tonight. Prior to the first game, Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov predicted that if they lost both matches they would be "done" for the season. Those comments failed to galvanise his side then, so the pressure has certainly ramped up now. Philly are a good home team and could turn it on out of the blue, but with the Devils so often their kryptonite of late, 2.95 is good value on New Jersey.
After suffering a setback in Vancouver last night, the Nashville Predators had to immediately jump on a plane to Calgary ahead of their match-up with the Flames - a first meeting between the two this season. Calgary will be aiming to build upon the win over Detroit two days ago, when they really stepped up in the third period. If Nashville fatigue is a factor they may come through in the final 20 minutes again. The Flames have won their last five at home and Nashville have taken just one of the last eight on the road. Back Calgary at 2.40.
Edmonton closed out a long and draining road trip with impressive wins against Chicago and Colorado, but will still be happy to be on home ice versus the Detroit Red Wings. They visited Motor City for the second time in 2013 as part of that tour and were handed a 3-0 loss, so this is a chance at revenge for the Oilers over a club they've struggled against historically. The contrast here is between Edmonton's reliance on their powerplay for goals and Detroit's five-on-five strength. The Red Wings have shown they can counter the Oilers' skill and speed already, so take them at 2.50.
Best bet: Calgary Flames to win at 2.40
