NHL Betting: New Jersey looking to triumph over the Panthers

Florida against New Jersey is the final first round series to get under way and the Panthers have made the play-offs for the first time since 2000 but come in to this game in poor shape. Meanwhile the Devils closed out the regular season with six straight wins led by a red hot Ilya Kovalchuk and many expect them to turn Florida over. The Devils start as slight favourites at 2.40.

Los Angeles took an unexpected but totally deserved victory in Vancouver on Wednesday, they may have struck late to win it but had comfortably outshot the Canucks over the 60 minutes. Vancouver will need to ease the pressure on goalie Roberto Luongo, mainly by cutting down the amount of time they spent on the penalty kill. With the belief from their Game 1 victory, the Kings are 3.50 to win.

The Philadelphia Flyers also jumped out to a lead in their series when they came back from three goals down to beat Pittsburgh in overtime, Jakub Voracek grabbing the winner. If the Penguins start the game with the same intensity they did in Game 1, they are unlikely to make the same mistake of giving up the lead again.

It promises to be another tight game in Nashville after the Predators edged their initial contest with the Detroit Red Wings 3-2. There are odds of 2.15 for there to be under 4.5 total goals in this one and goalies Pekka Rinne and Jimmy Howard are good enough to make that happen.

Best Bet: New Jersey Devils to win in regulation at 2.40.
