New York Rangers vs Winnipeg Jets
After putting in one of their best performances of the season to get a win over Vancouver on Saturday, the New York Rangers need to push their home record on when they host a similarly tough-to-gauge Winnipeg team.
Claude Noël should have the Jets motivated for this game as they made little impression during a lame defeat by Philadelphia last time out. The fact that they spent so long on the back foot - despite being behind from the first minute - was disappointing to see.
The Rangers' depth on the wing is beginning to come to the fore as they become a more consistent scoring outfit and the contributions of Carl Hagelin and Mats Zuccarello typify this. Their skill level allows them to step up to the top lines or rotate in on the powerplay and just as importantly for their roles are their positive plus ratings, Norwegian Zuccarello has five points in his last five games so is the man in form.
A healthy roster means New York are ready to build a solid run and fulfil their favourable preseason predictions - take the Rangers at 1.90.
Los Angeles Kings vs St Louis Blues
St Louis' five game streak was toppled by fellow contenders San Jose on Friday and the Blues' tour of the west coast doesn't get any easier as they move on to another elite team - the Los Angeles Kings.
It's probably the best time yet to face LA as, from a position of strength at Staples Center, the Kings have been edged out in three straight and only won one of their previous five anywhere.
Goals have dried up again and whilst Ben Scrivens plus the D have made them the least generous side in the West LA remain way behind the likes of St Louis in the goals for column. It's all there for them to turn it around as the full ice effort from their top two lines remains undimmed. More specifically, centers Anze Kopitar and Mike Richards work unbelievably hard at both ends of the ice.
In a Blues jersey Alexander Steen shows no sign of slowing down with an outstanding 20 goals through 25 games, sophomores Vladimir Tarasenko and Jaden Schwartz are just another threat level in a hugely talented forward group providing youthful vitality to boot.
These two played out an intensely close playoff series in the 2013 playoffs and there's likely to be very little separating them tonight. I think the tie is a real possibility, but 2.50 is a good price on LA turning it around.
Best Bet: New York Rangers to win at 1.90
