Philadelphia Flyers at Tampa Bay Lightning
It's three in a row for Philadelphia and they will need that confidence when visiting an arena they've struggled in historically, as the last time they won in Tampa was back in 2011. The Lightning have taken three of their last four so are in good shape also, they scored seven in Minnesota on Saturday then racked up the same amount against Arizona two days later.
As a team they're sharing the scoring burden very well which is taking the pressure off a currently hit and miss Steven Stamkos, for me their best player has been summer signing Anton Stralman on defence as he's already a +9 and logging over 22 minutes. A big week for Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek has seen them move up the individual scoring stakes, between them they've added 10 assists in the last three tilts.
Goalie Steve Mason signed a new long-term contract in the offseason but is currently being outshone by Ray Emery, the Flyers are yet to hold a team to fewer than two goals so taking the overs seems a smart option here. They're an in-form side though and at 3.25 the price is right to bank on an away win here.
Arizona Coyotes at Florida Panthers
These teams met in Arizona five days ago and the Coyotes scraped though 2-1 via overtime, since then they opened up a four game road trip with that aforementioned heavy defeat to Tampa whilst Florida have been resting up. That OT loss meant the Panthers extended their current point streak to three and defensively they look solid, up front they do have some scoring issues to iron out.
Netminder Roberto Luongo has been at the heart of that strength at the back and there should be plaudits too for veterans Brian Campbell and Willie Mitchell as well as first overall pick Aaron Ekblad settling in very well to his rookie season. Luongo's opposite number tonight Mike Smith is under a bit more pressure, his save percentage currently sits at .858 but for the moment coach Dave Tippett is sticking with him. Separated by just a point in the standings there clearly isn't too much between these two at the moment and for that reason take the odds of 2.45 on a Panthers victory.
Best Bet: Philadelphia Flyers to win at 3.25.
