NHL Betting: Pittsburgh Penguins To Ground The Flyers

Pittsburgh Penguins‬ 2.05, ‪Philadelphia Flyers 3.10

Any of three first round matchups are still possible for both of these clubs including each other, with the history and bad blood between them that's a mouthwatering prospect.

A Philadelphia victory before a shootout tonight eliminates the chance of that happening but when they've been the ones coming out on top of recent skirmishes are unlikely to be daunted by the Penguins should it come down to seven games.

Aggravating to knock Pittsburgh out of their stride is the name of the game and whilst Craig Berube's Flyers are less antagonistic than his predecessor Peter Laviolette's, he has witnessed the strategy work perfectly through their clashes in 2014 as well as the last playoff meeting in 2012 as an assistant coach.

What might disturb Philly's fans is their record of three wins from the last ten and none of those came against playoffs teams, banking on the form book's irrelevance for a rivalry game is a risky strategy. Not that the Pens have been pulling up any trees either but a pair of big wins this week have lifted the mood - the injury list is shortening and the welcome return of Kris Letang from a stroke earlier in the week stacks up their already deadly powerplay.

Only two clubs have more home victories than Pittsburgh and getting them at 2.05 is better than I expected for this one

Anaheim Ducks 2.85, Los Angeles Kings 2.25

Another set of familiar foes performing final postseason preparations with a fifth meeting of the season providing a solid examination of their credentials.

A 3-1 advantage for Anaheim up to now is somewhat surprising when the games have been played on LA's low scoring terms, 13 goals over 240 minutes of regulation hockey and the Ducks have scored nine of those.

Whilst they play tomorrow as well this is the Kings' final game of the season, they picked up a first victory in four to salvage an unimpressive road trip and since the Olympic break Staples Center has witness just one victory against a playoff outfit.

These are two of the most dominant groups at even strength and I think the fact that Bruce Boudreau gives the Ducks extra freedom to create has allowed them to break open those very close encounters. Take Anaheim to continue their supremacy in this fixture with another success at 2.85.

Best Bet: Pittsburgh Penguins to win at 2.05
